Convection and Moisture Experiment (CAMEX-1) Project

Summary:

The Convection and Moisture Experiment (CAMEX-1) was a NASA funded scientific study conducted at the Goddard Space Flight Center/Wallops Flight Facility located at Wallops Island, VA. The experiment was designed to study three-dimensional moisture fields using satellite, aircraft, and ground-based instrumentation and the multifrequency radiometric and lightning signatures of tropical convection over the United States Eastern Seaboard. CAMEX-1 took place between September 8 - October 7, 1993. The Advanced Microwave Precipitation Radiometer (AMPR) data from CAMEX-1 is archived at the GHRC.
